What are the family’s experience of an ATU?

This weekend, we held an event for families who have had children in an ATU (or are due to come out of an ATU).
We asked them a few questions and wanted to share a snapshot of the responses.

What did parents want from the day and what were the challenges they faced in attending?

We then asked them why their child/young person went into an ATU, what they expected hoped/for and more importantly, what actually happened.  Their responses will be something you can probably relate to, irrelevant of your child or young person’s age or disability.

Why did they go into an ATU?

What did you expect/hope for?

What actually happened?

Having been part of this weekend and listened first hand to families, I still get a lump in my throat when I read these comments back. #strongertogether
