Hello just to say I am looking forward to the web chat tomorrow and trying to answer your questions. With the changes coming to the Code of Practice and a much stronger emphasis on the role of every teacher in meeting the needs of children and young people with SEND the role of the SENCO is growing considerably. The role of the SENCO is a complex one with many facets to it and centrally the role of working in partnership with parents. I have delivered the National Award for SENCOs in Primary and Secondary schools for over 4 years (a Mandatory qualification). I have met many dedicated , professional and committed professionals. I have also worked with over 300 Early Years SENCO’s supporting professional development through a Foundation degree module and more recently delivering an Advanced SENCO course for Early Years SENCO’s. I hope through the knowledge I have gained from the SENCO’s I have met and also considering the existing and forthcoming guidance on the role of the SENCO I will be able to answer your questions or find someone who can.
